The Colorado Midwives Association supports and promotes the option of birth at home for childbearing families in the state of Colorado. We facilitate communication and promote a sense of community among midwives attending homebirths from Durango to Denver to Greeley and beyond. Home birth has been legal in Colorado since 1993 and to date, over 120 midwives have been registered to practice in all areas of the state. The CMA was instrumental in the passage of The Colorado Midwives Law and continues to be the legislative force behind maintaining regulation of midwifery in Colorado.

“In all cultures the midwife’s place is on the threshold of life, where intense human emotions – fear, hope, longing, triumph and incredible physical power – enable a new human being to emerge. Her vocation is unique.”
